In a move to reduce Nigeria’s food import, Dangote group recently launched an 8,000- hectare rice Out-Growers’ scheme in Jigawa state, Nigeria with the inaugural distribution of the rice seedlings performed by the group president, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
The rice project will be replicated in six additional states in the country and will be executed by Dangote Rice Limited. One additional direct benefit this project will have is the potential to create about 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The project will provide training and other necessary inputs for farmers with a guaranteed buy-back at agreed prices.
The Governor thanked Dangote Rice Limited for choosing the state to initiate the pilot project ane he expressed confidence that the project would transform the economy of the state while reiterating the readiness of his administration to provide the needed support.
