Bird Flu outbreak confirmed in Nigeria

An outbreak of the dreaded Avian Influenza popularly known as Bird Flu has been recorded in the Northern part of Nigeria. This was confirmed by the Plateau state Commissioner of Agriculture, Mrs. Linda Barau.

According to the commissioner, four farms have been affected while thousands of birds have been isolated to prevent further spread of the disease.

Preventive measures are being undertaken by the State’s department of veterinary service and farmers have been advised to maintain high sense of biosecurity.
