As the Lagos State Government commences the yuletide sales of Lake Rice, residents who besieged designated sales centres across the State have lauded the State government for the good logistics put in place at designated sales centres which have resulted in getting the product with ease and in an atmosphere devoid of rancour.
Hassan Adewale, who was at the Lagos Television (LTV) Complex, Agidingbi-Ikeja to buy the product expressed satisfaction with organisation at the centre.
He noted that officials at the centre were courteous and pleasant adding that getting the product was on the basis of first serve basis.
“Lake rice is of a very good quality and has become a household name and I am pleased with the arrangement at this centre”, he said
Another resident, Olamide Fashola who was at Agricultural Development Authority (ADA) Oko Oba, Agege to get the product also expressed satisfaction in sales of the product stressing that getting the product from the centre was a lot easier than she thought.
She, however, urged the State government to consider a further price reduction in the spirit of the season.
“The price of Lake Rice has forced down the prices of other brands of rice, the government should further consider reducing the price since the price of the imported rice has also dropped drastically”, she said.
Afolami Bashorun who got the product at the Farm Service Centre Odogunyan-Ikorodu stated that that Lake rice is better than all other imported rice.
“Lake rice is of good quality, I got the product with relative ease at the centre in Ikorodu here. I have been buying since last year and I just bought for my mum and mother in-law”, he said.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Oluwatoyin Suarau who visited the designated sales centre at Lagos Television (LTV) Complex, Agidingbi-Ikeja to monitor activities, stated that the present Administration has from inception been committed to making policies that will enhance food productivity in the state.
He assured that the State Government will ensure the continuous availability of the rice in already established designated centres and the work assiduously to ensure adequate supply all over the state.
Suarau assured that the product will continue to maintain its quality and price and will always go through different quality analysis assessment before being released to the market for consumption.
“Our LAKE Rice is of good quality. The major difference between LAKE Rice and imported rice is that the imported has a minimum storage of five to six years storage life span, but LAKE Rice is fresh.” He said.
